“🐇 From Coop to Kitchen: Processing Poultry & Rabbits
Empowering Youth with Self-Sufficiency and Respect
Understanding where our food comes from is a vital part of the agricultural cycle. In this hands-on workshop, members will move beyond the barn to learn the essential skills of humane processing. This meeting is designed to demystify the butchering process, focusing on safety, sanitation, and the ethics of animal harvest.
What We’ll Cover:
The Ethical Harvest: Understanding humane dispatch methods that minimize stress for both the animal and the handler.
Step-by-Step Processing: * Poultry: Scalding, plucking, and evisceration.
Rabbits: Skinning, pelt preservation, and cooling.
Kitchen Ready: How to properly store carcasses safely.
“To honor the animal is to use it well.” This workshop isn’t just about butchery; it’s about taking full responsibility for the life cycle of our livestock.”
